The Villain: Toxic

It's been a while. Sorry about that. I'm actually thinking of expanding to a blog with a larger range of stuff to talk about. There's just ever so far that a story can go. Lots of times I have no idea what to write.

ANYWAY

A few things happened to help me shape the main villain in Peacekeeper's Essence (yes Sarlin isn't the only one). One: I discovered the awesomeness of Imagine Dragons. I came across one of their songs Radioactive (which I'm listening to right now) and I felt a bit... inspired to say the least. When I listen to a good song I just have to make a character fit it. If not, I make one up. Thus the birth of Toxic. It's not his official name though.

Isn't he awesome? Other than all the anatomy glitches. I actually got a massive influence of his coloring with this one person's character (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffs4qGnQAZ8).

I combined the concept of the Vat with some Romantic themes. To put it simply, he is a symbol of the corruption of sin and the quest for perfection blah blah blah... In his case, it's immortality. Also, Vat start out as normal creatures of Rantis until they allow darkness to corrupt their hearts. Then their physical forms mutate as well. They also grow gray as they age, a symbol of their own death to come.

I thought I'd mix this concept with scientific testing. Toxic is hundreds of years old and still looks pretty good, sort of. At first all that I had for the secret villain that would show up around the end of the second book was some bird made of shadow. But no- he's one of the few Valloians who gave way to darkness and became a Vat. For the most part the government of Dorimay and Nebey, the two countries mainly occupied by Valloians, have killed these almost bestial creatures. Those that existed in the other lands were locked away long ago by a hero. I'll have to write down that historical, almost myth-like, event at some point. Either way, these creatures are very rare on the surface world of Rantis.

I hope you like him as much as I do! Here's to an awesomely creepy villain!

Sketches

Hope you're all enjoying the cooling weather. Looks like summer's wrapping up now. Now if only we could get some rain.

Over the past couple of days I've been able to draw a few character profiles, very sketchy like. The purpose of these was one, to keep me from dying of bordom in class, and two, to just get the anatomy right on these dragons. I'll be sure to draw other characters other than the main trio, but I just like drawing main characters. The others happen to be either antros, human-like creatures, and birds. Both of these I'm not so great drawing. I apologize for some of the side-viewed pictures.
A front view of a Skreek, those griffen antros. This is Lucian. Here he is wearing long, concealing clothing to match his personality. His glasses are small and round, sitting on his beak. His hair-cut is rather... I don't know. I can't really describe it. His collar fur is covered by his turtleneck.

Another Skreek: Sarlin. He had hair-like down covered one side of his face. If you look closely, you can see the satanic runes on his clothing, showing his use of black magic.

This is Crest. I made a note of her sleeveless shirt.

This is the side view of a Skreek, a female. I'm not the best at drawing humans, but this didn't turn out too bad. Notice the paw-like hands and feathered tail. A specific tribe of Skreek also sport wings, but I have not drawn them yet.

A view of Demiri, the main character. Her top jaw extends like a beak over the botton.

Demiri's tail and wing design.

A few odd poses and expressions.
A front and side view of Demiri's eyes, as well as the markings under them.

Nikki's eyes. I ended up discovering a way to make them look metallic too. :D

A picture to show Nikki's dark underbelly.

A head shot of Nikki wearing goggles. His ears rotate freely of one another, like all Valloians.

A full-body view of Nikki.

A full-body view of Klydin. You can see that he has a much different personality.

A view of Valloian talons and Klydin's eyes. Those dark marks are tattoos.

Klydin has a uber-rare genetic trait of breathing fire. The flame is red.

Another shot of Klydin. I was practicing the Valloian anatomy here. I still have a long ways to go.

The PMV is coming to a bit of a snail crawl, but it's coming together bit by bit. I'm not too happy as my style is developing quite rapidly and the style used in the PMV is one that I don't want to use. *sigh* I meant to finish it and I will. I learned a lot about lion anatomy working on this. I'm about a minute through it. I hope there weren't too many pictures to look at. Have a great October!

Character Relationships #1: Shade and Marlu

I've managed to read through my manuscript once and made some notes. There we a few minor edits that were fixed as well, so that's another obstacle that's been taken care of.

I've also found a publishing house that I've taken a fancy to, Okatara. This would be a Christian publishing company that focuses on trying to market to people who shop on the web, but aren't really looking for a Christian book in particular. In other words, it's a ministry of sorts. One that I hope to be involved in soon. There are some other ones that have published books that I like, such as The Door Within. This book takes an abstract mind to understand, but it's good either way and teaches biblical morals.

I was considering giving a snippet of my story here, but I still feel that it needs some more commentary by friends and family before being posted. But I'll be glad to discuss some of my character's relationships.

Today I will be talking about Shade and Marlu. These two are both villain and hero in their own eyes. Now let me explain that. These two are sisters that grew up as princesses of Virgultis, the country of Aquila. Their past is something that I have not set in stone, but I see potential for a good story in their dispute. Shade always believed that people should have a say in everything and everyone should get along. So she has a democratic view. Marlu believes that the government, or in the case the ruler, should have more power. You can see that conflict arises from this. The source of this is the undeniable fact of their country's slow decline. Both see different ways to change that. Both also feel they have to do what's necessary for the country and the people.

There came a time, when they were fairly close to adulthood, that the current ruler was not satisfying the country. Both sisters noticed that. This is where the rift between the two appears. A person(s) decided that they wanted to overthrow the ruler and managed to get Marlu on his(their) side. Marlu was always one who'd rather act violently then discuss matters. With this, Shade disapproves and fights for her father. He dies and she is banished, much to Marlu's regret.

Marlu becomes ruler of Virgultis and attempts to make conditions in the country better, but soon sees that she has to gain land back that had once been part of the country centuries ago. An unseen force, Sarlin, took advantage of her nature and began to poison her mind with a lust for power. In years to come her rule became stricter and stricter.

Meanwhile, Shade had grown to resent the rule of her sister, but still loved her. Both never really did hate each other. Soon Shade found herself, with her skills in calming disputes, a part of a rebellion that would overthrow Marlu. Until a nonspecific point in time none of them knew that she was the previous princess. When she did reveal herself, the high council of the rebels began to plan something big. They would interfere with Marlu's plans and gain her trust through Shade and then she would kill the tyrant. Shade was reluctant, but she would do anything to end her people's suffering.

Skipping the events that happen within the time frame of the manuscript, Shade and Marlu conflict for one last time before Shade shot her with an arrow. But book 2 is certain to show that Shade is not ready to rule, nor happy with the death of her sister.

Hope you enjoyed!

I'm Feeling Artsy

I'm finally delivering today! I actually did my world map! Well, it's the northeastern hemisphere anyway.

This is only the rough draft though. The final draft will have more texture and less color, kind of like a sketch in an explorer's notebook. This draft also lacks lakes and a compass. Many, many things are missing. :P

Also, I have a surprise for you. It's a speedpaint. And guess what? I did it. I finally figured out Quicktime and Aftereffects. I'll be sure to make more videos once I figure out how to upload them faster.

Also, I have a colored picture of Nikki that I'm almost done with. Once I sit down to finish it, it should end up here.

Also, I decided to change Demiri's design. This is an older picture, but I like it better than what I have now.

I also have a few sketches of some other side characters. I'll take pictures of them and upload them to the bio page.

That's it I suppose. I'll be starting the editing process tomorrow. This means I won't be drawing for some time.

The 100 for 100 Challange

With school as it is, most of us writers take a break from hours of writing due to our grievous amount of  homework and school in general. So what would one do when all that creativity just simmers there with nowhere to go? Since I'm still recovering from my book writing, all the brain cells that survived have ended up crafting another story entirely. But how in the world does someone release all this imagination that had flowed freely before? The feeling of having the best idea and not being able to write isn't a pleasant one.

I'm a follower on the Go Teen Writer's blog. They've recently found a solution to my problem. It's something called the 100 for 100 challenge. All you do is write 100 words every day for 100 days. That's about 10 minutes of time, that's all! I already know what I'm doing for the manuscript, since I'll be busy editing Peacekeeper's manuscript. It's a short story that takes place in the same storyworld. I don't think I'll try to publish it, but I'll polish it up and find some way to self-publish it so you guys can read it.

Here's a link to the contest. Details there. http://goteenwriters.blogspot.com/

Hope to see some of you doing this too! Unfortunately, this means I'll have to drop art since writing is going to take up such a big chunk of time. But it's for the best. Once these next two weeks roll by, I'm back to getting my manuscript ready for the editors. That also means I'm going to have to start getting book proposals ready. Then when summer rolls around again, I can go crazy with drawing.

Shout-outs and Scary Math Teachers

School. Another daunting year begins. Well, most of my classes have been good so far. Except my math class. That teacher... He intimidates me. Let's hope that I can switch classes. o_O

ANYWAY.

The first draft of Peacekeeper's Essence has officially been finished! Yay! Now, the next step is to... edit. And send book proposals. Lots and lots of book proposals. Good thing I did my homework.

I happened to do a digital rendering of Demiri. And dear razzburries... I cannot draw dragons like I do cats. T^T

I'll get to Nikki next, but I also have another project under my belt.

I'm making a PMV. For those who don't know what that is, it's a picture music video. Like a slideshow, but with effects and awesome. Since I don't have the time (or patience) to animate on top of homework, writing, and just art in general, I just draw each panel.

It's been over a week and I've only gotten :30 through the song. And it's 3:30 long. I have my work cut out for me, that's for sure. But all this drawing on Photoshop should give me plenty of time to practice and the process should speed up as I mess around with it. My latest mistake cost me three days on a single frame... But here's a frame to tease you all until it's done. Estimating about a month from now, if homework doesn't get too intensive.

Sorry for the cartoony quality. It's just soooo much easier and faster to draw than smudging the colors to make it look like fur with out the line art. But I'll drop the style, hopefully for good, once this project is done.

Moving on the shout-outs. I have two.

First, if any of you have been starving for Legend of Korra Intel while waiting for the next season, I know just the youtuber for you. Avatarjeseal does a great job keeping it short and sweet. Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/AvatarJesal?feature=g-user-u

Also, I found a great artist who specializes in drawing animals in a realistic, beautiful way and was devastated when I found out she barely had any views or subscriptions. She also has a Devianart.
Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/GoldenPhoenix101
Devianart: http://goldenphoenix100.deviantart.com/

And just to show you guys just how awesome she is, here's a speedpaint of her most recent speedpaint. I think she uploaded it yesterday actually. Check out her channel. I want to draw like that someday.

That's all for now! Have a great school year!

It's been a long week

Indeed it has. From new games being released to finished manuscripts, it has indeed *cue wise sounding voice* a long week.

Good news folks. The first draft of Peacekeeper's Essence has officially exceeded it's original word count goal, 80,000 words! By the time it's finished, it could well reach 90,000. Here's hoping I can finish by the week's end.

Today I'm going to try a new take on blogging. You know, I've been talking about trips and some things over the summer that have been exciting for me. I have a Facebook. I might as well do that there.  So where does one go from here? Well... I have been growing with knowledge about multiple things. Why not share that with the rest of the world? Can one not share one's love for art and writing?

Actually, I'll be buying a well-recommended manga drawing guide within the day. Sometime within the next couple of weeks I could write a few posts on drawing faces or something. It's just a thought. I'm just trying to figure out my main media with art. I have my graphite drawings (requests are open) and then I'm just beginning to get into manga art. This branches off my love for digital art, although it's more of a stretch since I never got it straight off the bat like I did with graphite.

...

Okay, I failed miserably with pencil when I started out too. It's surprising what two years of free time will do to you, between video games and books of course.

So, in interest of talking about my story for once, I decided to make some bios for some recently made characters.

And they are...

Gravis and Lucian. Two brothers tied at the heart yet polar opposites. I later realized they were a lot like me and my sister. *shakes head* I need to find other people to base characters on for once. Putting their history behind us, these two are very intelligent. They're also Skreeks (a upright walking griffin with no wings ect.). Both have brilliant emerald eyes.

Gravis is the older, harsher brother. He's always had to watch for his innocent brother so he tends to have a bossy tone. Unfortunately for everyone else he comes in contact with, he takes it upon himself to know more than anyone else. Especially when he has that huge beak of his crowding into other people's conversations due to his... obsession with fine conversation. I have to pull up an online dictionary when I write dialogue for him. Oh Gravis you are so difficult sometimes...

And Lucain. I just wanna squeeze you for being such a bundle of sweetness. This little drop of sunshine loves to read books. Medical books actually. Ever since his brother had an accident some years ago he dedicated his life to be a doctor of natural medicines. He's pretty socially awkward since he was only around his brother for so many years of his life. Oh man... And he has a crush on a pretty little thing called Crest. You can imagine a bookworm like him trying to talk to this shy girl. It's making me cry and laugh at the same time! How can you not notice him Crest! He's too adorable to resist! No one can resist that pout! C'mon! What, are you blind girl?

Sorry. Got kinda in touch with my characters for a moment. But that's good. Get in touch with your character's emotions, the little things that set them off and everything. Draw them. Dream them. Then like a puzzle those little details will soon piece a new creation (don't forget to bring a pen and paper where ever you go *wink*). And in this case it would be a pair of brothers who nobody would dare to think they were related.

My Brain Went Kapoot

*dusts off blog*

...

Okay guys, I'm not even going to try to give myself an allbi. Blogging isn't one of my strengths.

Well, what have I been up to... Watching Legend of Korra... Yea. Let's talk about that. In case you don't know, it's a sequel to the Last Airbender series. It's not as good as the original, but I'm a fangirl of it just the same. I mean... waiting six months for season two causes one to create OCs and fanart. Sadly, I cannot draw people, let alone amine people. Well... I guess I'm going to get a lot of practice huh? Just today I was drawing my first Avatar OC named Yakota, from the Fire Nation.

Okay, getting off track here. I must say, my story is up to the brim with minor characters. I mean... There's like at least fifteen now but they barley show up in the story and when they do I have to salvage through my 70,000 word script for a single description of eye color. Sweet heaven... I need to make a reference sheet. But given a few more days and the first draft of the manuscript will be done! Then I can spend the rest of the summer doing requests, homework, and then splurge on fanart until school starts.

Actually, I've been thinking of doing digital art profiles for each of my main characters. At least the main trio. Unfortunately, I draw when I'm inspired. And right now I'm just all about Korra at this moment. But a must is a map of the storyworld. That. Will. Be. Done.

So, I will say that I will be busy with drawing at least a lazy sketch of my characters. I'm still trying to figure out how to make each one unique. You'd think they were for a television show or something. *head/desk*

Anyway, I'm off to do requests and other busy stuff. =_=

Wow. That was a lot of venting. Guess I really need a break once I'm done writing. Playing Kingdom Hearts 3D that is! :D

Good Job Rwebhu!

I have to apologize for being AFK for so long. Summer has a way of degrading my concentration and energy. I have been doing some art, and quite a lot of writing, but my blog has seen better days. Sorry for making you wait so long Rwebhu and the rest. Oh, and as for Michael and Eclectic, let me know if you two really want the book. I can send you the codes. I will PM you the code Rwebhu, so rest assured.

Man, this summer is just relentless. Request after request, not to mention my summer homework. Oh, and writing on top of all of that. To say the least, my word count has exceeded 50k. I'm praying I'll have the willpower to finish it. This is the most I've written on a single draft of anything.

Now, I did promise some photos. Here a few scraps from Hawaii that I never uploaded.

I also have a honest question. Do you think it would be a good idea to get a Deviantart? It could be one of the easiest ways to get my story and art out there, since there seems to be tons of people on it... What are your thoughts?

Until next time,

Giveaway!!

Yes, this is a giveaway. I did tell you in advance that I had something in mind for this week's post! Today, I'd like to introduce a dear friend's book, Finding the Core of Your Story.

Now the very idea behind this is to be able to boil down your book idea into a single sentence. This is great for marketing and for normal conversation among friends. I cannot tell you how irritating it is when I ask people about their ideas over e-mail and they reply "I can only tell you in person, you'll only understand it that way." The impatient side of me, which pretty much consists of all of me, wants to know now or I'll loose interest. It's just the way that a lot of us work.

I've met Jordan Smith on Holyworlds, who has a thread on there just for developing these cut and dry attention getters. He did a great job shaping out mine, and every bit of expertise that he showed there is in this book as well. It's short, sweet, and funny too. And for those who need a bit of practice or are slow learners, like me, there are exercises after each chapter. It's an hour read that's really worth the time and effort that Jordon put into it, and I'm thankful to have been blessed to have found him in the Holyworlds community. To be honest, it would be even greater if he started looking into other concepts like this and devise other guides with his expertise. I've come to respect him for this and I expect more from him in the future!

Now this e-book is available off off Smashwords, but it's not free. That's where the giveaway comes in. Since there aren't a ton of viewers on this blog, I won't make you do anything strenuous like writing your own logline (but I hope to see the ones the winners create!). Instead, I will make a random drawing from the people who comment on this. Simple right? All you have to do to get a free, stupendous book is comment on here! Trust me, it will be worth your time. To the winners I will send a code that will enable them to get the e-book for free on their computer.
You have until June 24 to do so.

And to those who are curious about my normal rantings, my first draft made it past the 30k word count (that's 30,000 words). My goal is a 80,000 word novel, about 250 pages. I'm almost half-way people!

I also have to make a note that there will be no post next week because I'm going to be gone at camp. I'll miss all you guys! Hopefully I'll be able to bring my camera, but a camp called Water Sports Camp just doesn't sound like the best place to bring one. Survey says no. Sorry guys.

I also have some pictures collecting dust that might be interesting, which I'll do a separate post about. Until then,

Sea

Updated Bios + Logline

Hello world. Guess what? I'm not dead. I have been abandoning the blog for a bit, since finals are bearing way too much pressure on me at the moment.

But I have been hard at work!

Recently, I looked at the bios for my characters and realized they were way out of date. Some characters had their name changed, some even taken from the story entirely! So with that note I set off to revise the page. As soon as this post is up, I will be adding these pictures to the character bio pages.

Now these two are part of the main trio- or quartet if you want to call it that. The way how the story goes complicates things. See, Demiri is the main character but she obtains amnesia and can't remember her two best friends, Klydin and Nikki (hence the trio). She befriends Shade (I will post a link once her bio is finished) and they become a duo. At some point, they part ways and Demiri joins the original trio.

Shade does show up again but does not join the trio to make it a quartet. She has to remain as queen of Vurgultis after she killed her sister, the tyrant Marlu. That's all I'm going to spoil it for you, but keep in mind that I'm focusing on drawing the important characters. I'm in the process of drawing Nikki (the sketch is in my math binder) and hopefully I'll be done with him by the end of this week. I've got a ton of projects ahead of me this summer. Planning according to a different agenda other than school is going to be tough.

But guess what?? I got a request today! An old friend of mine asked me to draw her a hairless cat. Now don't go all catty just yet. I thought the idea was a bit funny at first, but I agreed anyway. Why? Because any project that you do increases your publicity, not to mention it pushes you beyond what you would normally do (both are good if you're planning to minor or major in art like I might).

Now, here is the picture that I got off the Internet that I'm going to base it on. I just have one question: Should I do this in Prismacolor, graphite (this would be in black and white like the bio pictures of my characters above), or a different media entirely (I think I have colored graphite sitting somewhere but I've never tried it)? Please leave your suggestions below!

I also finally got a logline going. In other words, the book, Peacekeeper's Essence, boiled down into one sentence. And here it is:

A lonely dragon awakens within a dark jungle with no memory and must overcome the haze in her mind to protect her newfound friends from an evil sorceress.

You like? It took me ages to finally perfect it. Luckily I had some great friends to help me out.

Oh, and one more question: What are your plans for summer? Mine includes a lot of drawing and writing, with plenty of video games and a few books in between. And stay tuned for next week's post because I have a surprise for all of you!

Until then,

Sea

Free Image: Wolf Link!

I haven't been on in a while. Hi guys! :) I've been having fun with Photoshop recently so I thought that I'd share my recent drawing. I've never tried to do realistic fur until now, and this is what forty-five minutes of drawing gave me. Feel free to use it! It's my wallpaper right now. :D But be nice and say I made it if you share it...

If you recognize it, yay! Another Zelda fan! I'm not much of a Zelda fan as I am a Pokemon fan, but Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game. I should do a Pokemon thing like this some time... ;)

Oh, and I've finally begun the writing process of Peacekeeper's Essence. I actually have some things I have to do:
-Finalize the bio page
-Draw the characters and post their pictures in the bio page
-Finalize the map of my storyworld

Hopefully the map will come up first! I'll post that as soon as I'm done. I will modify the bios either tomorrow or Monday. Badmittion is finally over so I have a life again. ;D But I did enjoy the season. I would put a snippet of my story up, but many experts tell me to hold off on sharing my work until it's ready. Trust me, it's not ready. :P

You guys should take a look at the book info at the top of the page. It links to my sub-forum on Holyworlds, where there is a ton of information on my world. My most recent post is about the Rayo Mountains and the people that live there. If you have an account on the website, feel free to leave a comment!

The world itself is a massive continent that has a tundra, a huge jungle, mountain ranges, a savannah, and massive mountains that spew wind and fire. :D Check it out sometime! Some of the stuff might be irrelevant since it underwent lots of changes and whatnot over the past months. ;)

Ciao!

Pictures~

So, I've got a TON of pictures for you guys. E-mail me if you want one. Most of these I'm fine with giving away. Some of them though, I'd want to use for the background for the blog or some other project.

Without further ado...

This happens to be a picture that I took on a drive to San Fransisco a couple months back. The fog is so pretty... This photo is available.

This is the sunset from out hotel room. Pretty sick huh? This photo is available.

The beach outside our hotel. For some odd reason, the island out there always had clouds covering it. CONSPIRACY! :P Available.

One of the laid-back cats we saw. This was my favorite out of the ones we saw. Available.

Some glass frogs that I took photos for reference for my novel. Not available.

I saw this sign in Whaler's Village and totally fell to pieces. I had no idea Nikki was running a cafe! xD

I somehow find myself caught in the picture as the crane flies away... I just looks so wonderful in it's simplicity.

"Yay! Ima happy dog! 8D" Yup. Pretty much explains it. ^_^ Available.

A couple of toads that we saw during a night hike. Dude... These are poisonous cane toads. O _ O Available.

My family also went to a luau. I SO want that dress. *_* Available.

This was a flower I saw during a short hike off of Hana. One of my favorites. :) Not available.

One of the best shots the entire trip. :) Not available.

Another wonderful flower shot. :D Not available.

Oh my gosh... This had to be the best flower shot ever. EVER. Available.

A Japanese eraser that I picked up in a store. Who else here is thinking of Hamtaro? :P Available.

One of the two waterfalls I saw on the Road to Hana. Available.

And that's a few of my pictures. I might upload a few more in days to come so stay tuned!

I'm Back

So, this is just to say that I'm alive and well. I came back from Hawaii on Tuesday. I'm still adjusting to the schedule though...

What I mean to say is that I feel bone-tired and I'll post pictures in a few days, probably before the week's end.

Excited!!!

Guess what guys? I'm done planning the scenes for Peacekeeper's Essence! *tosses blue glitter everywhere until everyone is covered in it* That's 37 chapters! THIRTY SEVEN.

e_o

Now I'm SOOO pumped for Hawaii! I don't think I mentioned this earlier... I'm going to Maui for the first time on Tuesday! Don't worry, I'll take plenty of photos, make no mistake!

Also, I got my 3DS a week ago. And I have to say, it's really fun. Video games were the foundation of my childhood so I'll always be a gamer. Even when I'm ninety I'll be playing old Pokemon classics (considering if my games and the counsels last that long). Okay... I admit I need to work on maintaining a constant schedule instead of getting sucked into these awesome games. One in paticular has got my fancy at the moment. Gamers out there probably have heard about it, Kid Icarus: Uprising. Now this game happens to be a secqual of a game that came out 25 years ago. It also got a 5-star rating on most reviews. I'm not going to spoil anything, but its really fun and intense. You can't let your guard down in this game! And the dialouge is cheesy but insanely hilarious at times. I have to admit though, it's hard to concentrate during a boss battle when Viridi is sassing at me... >:/

I've also been spoiling myself with videos of the game Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distane.

DREAM EATERS ARE ADORABLE.
That is all.

The game is set to release in the States on July 31, while it's set to release on August 3 in Europe (Please don't kill me if the Europe date isn't accurate. I'm 75% sure it's true. The US date is set in stone though.)

Well, there's my past two weeks. What are you guys doing for spring break?

Lots and lots of lost info

Hey gang. Sorry for not posting for a while. Usually I post once a week but practice has been making me lazy when I get home. :P

Anyway, a lot of things have happened these last two weeks.

One, I'm going to get a 3DS (hopefully) on Friday! Yay! Ever since I heart of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, I wanted to upgrade my DS lite. I'm really excited for the game.  Sad thing is, it's coming out tomorrow in JAPAN. D: It's going to be months before it comes out in the states... *cries* But at least I'll be able to play my other games anyways. Plus, I heard the 3DS has some nifty features. Personally, I have no idea what those features are. I'll just have to look that up later on. I still have my old Game Boy Advance. My childhood is wrapped up in that tiny black counsel... *wipes tear from eye* GAHHH! I'm feeling nostalgic just thinking about it! Gosh, I love the old Pokemon. The new ones just don't seem so original.

Hoenn for the win!!

Oh! I have a sad story to tell. So, my mom wanted to get rid of our Nintendo 64 because we don't play it too much. AND I LET HER GIVE IT AWAY. WHOEVER HAS IT, I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY. THAT WAS ALSO A PIECE OF MY CHILDHOOD. I liked the Super Smash Bros. a ton better than Super Smash Bros Brawl. Sorry... Classics are classics.

So, I've stumbled upon some great methods for my story building. :) I bring a note-pad and a pocket-pen with me everywhere I go. And I got some great ideas! I managed to come up with a sport's emblem in English and with a note-pad ready, I was able to catch the idea before it flew away. I've also started a story bible. I keep character bios, mind maps for scenes, and other ideas I know that I'm going to use for my novel. Now I wake up earlier so that I have an hour to plan out my chapters in the morning. Hopefully I'll be done with that in another two weeks, then I can have a writer's conference with a friend before writing the draft.

Also, about commissions... I don't think that's going to work. If you don't live near me or know me in real life, then you'd have to give me your address... Which I doubt anyone would want to do.

Didn't I say I would rant about Owl City in this post? I did, didn't I? Well... I love Adam Young's music! Its electronic and romantic. Not to mention dreamy! I recently bought some albums and a custom-made shirt. Theres fangirl for you. Beware the fangirls. *evil giggle*

So, that's been my past two weeks. I'll be posting some of my recent art in my next post, m'kay dearies?

Vlog- DENIED!!!

So, I kinda lacked a post for a bit, and I have an excuse. Not a good excuse, but an excuse. So, I was watching this one person's channel on Youtube and I began to think of the prospects of doing a vlog. Its the same thing as this but in video format, which sounded a TON easier. Unfortunately, my higher superiority forbids that I do a vlog until I'm older and more mature, which is understandable. :P I can be rather silly at times. So I was busy trying to do that for a blog post, but it didn't happen.

So, there's not that much to report this week. Things have been rather mellow, with school keeping me rather busy. Really busy. Ridiculously busy.

But there was something quite fun that happened this weekend. I went to something called Battle of the Bands at Hark Rock Cafe. The music was great, and the food even better. :) There was this one place that serves the best clam chowder. I thought it was okay. It lacked POTATOES. Potatoes people! I don't know about you, but I NEED POTATOES IN MAH CHOWDER.

I'm actually going to Maui in a few weeks for spring break, so I'm really excited for that. :)

If you didn't know, I love anything near the ocean. Not to mention the photo oppertunites. Some friends of mine went to Maui before and say the view of the Milky Way is amazing there. :D Now I'm really pumped to go!

This also means I'm trying to save up for a better camera. Maybe not for the sake of the trip, since that's a short amount of time to make about $200, but for later on when I take photos to sketch or mess with in photoshop. ;)

So, in order to increase my salary, I'm going to begin to sell my art. Right now I'm almost done with a piece. I'll show you guys when it's done and explain the process that I'm going to take with requests then.

So, what kind of chowder do you like? What's the best place to get chowder?

And please leave comments and questions!! I know you guys are listening. Now I want to listen to you.

My Winter Break :D

My break consisted of a lot of computer time and a tad bit of homework. And photos. Lots and lots of photos. ;)

For example... (Lemme download them from my e-mail real quick)

Okay, first of all, I went to my grandmother's house for most of the week. My sister has this thing for bubbles and we got some at the flea market. My grandmother's dog, Misha, loved them.

See what I mean? X3

She also has this really pretty tree in her backyard. I'm going to do a watercolor of this... Eventually. ;) I think it's a cherry tree, but somehow it slips my mind... Or was it plumb?

She also improved some of her art, this being a wonderful painting of a water lily. I kinda smudged it a bit... But it was after she took the photo and you can't even tell. So don't tell her. >_> Hey, how am I supposed to know it takes paint more than a day to dry?

This is my grandmother's parrot Mango, sitting on my head. Isn't she pretty? I was afraid she was going to poop on me the whole time. She's done it before. XD It's so funny when someone walks into the house and she greets them! She even says goodbye! Actually, we don't know the gender but since Mango likes Mamis (my grandmother) more than Grandpa we can only assume the parrot is female.

Pertaining to my story: Sports have taken a huge chunk out of my time. I'm trying to adjust my schedule so I can work on my plot. It's a bit chaotic... *sighs with frustration* Back to square one. >:/ It feels like I'm starting over... Well, actually the world is well-developed but the plot isn't satisfying. I know that first drafts aren't the best but it's still hard even with that in mind.

So, the main villain is supposed to be Marlu, but it feels like Sarlin is taking that role. I don't want that. :( Oh well. Back to the drawing board.

Speaking of drawing, I did this real quick for that one coloring contest that's been going on for a while. It's not impressive, but I thought I'd like to share it.

Title: When Darkness Falls
I actually based the color design off a character from MLP... Nightmare Moon to be exact. I got the idea from the song Angel of Darkness. Hey, don't mess with a good thing I say.

I'd go off to scream my love for Owl City to you but I'm going to save that for my next post. ;)

Love you all!

Badmitton! (Or however you spell it) D:

Okay, so I have a ton of photos from my winter break, which was a blast. Here's the thing, I'm in sports and it takes out two hours of my time and is rather exhausting. So, I'll try to post some stuff tomorrow, but I barely got done with homework and it's 10PM. And I still have to do dishes. I'd prefer to have enough sleep during the school week (which usually happens once a week if I'm lucky) so just one day and I'll be telling you about my break.

Also, did any of you guys go out of state? Country? Comment if you can. Some people say that they can't comment on Blogger. I'll double-check my settings to make sure anyone can comment. So, things have been rather silent from my readers. Really, what did you guys do? I wanna know. I can say this, zumba is hard. I'll leave you with that and finish my chores.

Aww... I won't have time to paint my nails tonight... And I got some new colors too... T^T

SHLP and other Tasks

Well, pack your snow gear because winter break is here! If you're like me a still in school, that means that the week of fun has arrived. What I think is funny is that most people don't like it because it just reminds them that spring break isn't here yet. : /

I mean, what is it about spring break that makes it so special? I'm going to be going to Hawaii so that makes mine one to look forward to. I've never been there! Sad thing is, my mom won't buy an underwater camera for me and I want to save up my money for a 3DS, not a camera I'm not going to have a use for later on... >.<

But snorkeling sounds AMAZING!!! I'm so excited about that!! What's it like? Please tell me in the comments if you have!

Oh, and another thing. It's okay to comment. Some people have asked me for permission to do so. Go right on ahead! :D Feel free to express your opinion! I'm all ears.

I really don't have much else to talk about except about how much my SHLP has been a pain. Well, it's like writing an expository essay where you find the theme but instead of the teacher just giving the theme to you, you have to figure it out. Even worse, you have to relate the novel to do to the history topic it's on.  I'll be busy with that this next week.

Once the week has gone by, I'll have the time to post again. I'm going to be with family and that's going to be fun. Hope your vacation will be just as good!

A Night at the Movies

As you may have guessed, I went to the movies within the time of this post and the previous. Yes, I went to see a nicely made, cheese, ROFL movie called "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island".

This is a movie for you si-fi lovers, as well as you Jules Verne lovers. I am one myself, a fan of 20,000 Leauges Under the Sea,  Journey to the Center of the Earth, and any other works of his (which I have of yet to read). Now you must be thinking... "But what about the 3D event of Star Wars? That's worth talking about!" Yes, I will agree with you. Star Wars is amazing. I just don't see why going to an Imax theater is better than being home with your family and friends, watching it on your own television with quick access to that barbecue your parents, or yourself, made. Nothing beats a horde of die-hard Star Wars fans vegging out at home, cosplaying their favorite characters without the weird looks. Of course, if you go to the theater, you can have one heck of a time just as much. But even then I fail to see how this stirs up such devotion in fans... o.O

Oh well. We all have our things we rave about. :)

Anyways, the movie itself was funny, cheesy, and overly convient for the characters. The animation was good in my opinion, but I'm not much for looking closely for mistakes of things out of the ordinary. It actually begins where the most recent version of Journey to the Center of the Earth leaves off so that was rather interesting. I'd say its a movie that you want to go with your friends once, and maybe get it on DVD, or Blue-Ray if you have the right player. It really depends if you like the book and if your a fan of cheesy si-fi movies. The characters were more appealing to me than the last movie, which falls out of the trend of the first movie being the best and the next ones descending in epicness. That's my opinion anyway. I don't want to give away anything that I already have for the sake of spoilers so I refuse to tell more upon the subject, unless you request it. I do suggest you read Verne's books though. It helps. A LOT.

I also wish to brighten up today's post with a photoshop project that me and a friend of mine collabed on. He did most of the work though. Enjoy! We got the brushes for the effects off a photoshop freebie website. I forgot to bookmark the page so I can't share it... But I did find a website just as good. It's called brushezzy.com.

See ya all later!
